Baby Beavers Fighting Over a Sweet Potato Is Total Cuteness Overload

If you're looking for a dose of absolute adorableness, this video that @wildforlife.alexis shared on Instagram fits the bill. Make sure your sound is on for this one because not only are these tiny baby beavers named Raven and Penny fighting over a sweet potato too cute for words, but the sounds they're making are, too!

Even though the little ones are completely surrounded by other snacks, just like kids, they decide they both want the exact same one, and neither is willing to give it up. It sounds like they're arguing over who gets the sweet potato, and we could listen to their adorable little disagreement all day!

Alexis shared in the caption, "Beaver kits are very vocal with each other, and their caregivers, and quick to let you know their complaints." We're not sure how she gets anything else done because we'd be watching and listening to them all day!

Commenters had plenty to say about the two sisters arguing. One joked, "There's literally another sweet potato right there, but as a little sister I understand. It's the PRINCIPLE!"

We laughed when @Wizardlysloth shared, "Never knew beavers were born with a harmonica stuck in their throat LOL!" @CourtneyTaylorLA said what we were all thinking: "Can we please get each of the fuzzy kazoos their own sweet potato? My heart can't take this."

What Do Baby Beavers Eat?

Beavers are herbivores, meaning they don't eat meat. Instead, they survive on a variety of vegetation, including leaves, aquatic plants, twigs, and the inner bark of trees.

Private Land Wildlife explains that baby beavers only drink their mother's milk for about their first two weeks. At 2–3 weeks old, they continue nursing but also begin nibbling on vegetation their parents bring to them. Between 3–6 weeks, they start transitioning to solid foods, and by around eight weeks old, they're joining their parents to forage.

By 3–6 months old, young beavers are eating a fully plant-based adult diet. They're also finding their own food and even beginning to cut small branches. By their first autumn, they're actively helping their parents gather and store branches for the family's winter food supply.

These two may still have a lot to learn about being beavers , but apparently sharing isn't high on the lesson plan!
