Boston’s top hotel is also 24th best in the world, Condé Nast Traveler says
A waterfront hotel in Boston is not only the best in the city, it's also among the top hotels in the world.
The InterContinental Boston was recognized as the No. 1 hotel in Boston and the 24th best hotel in the world in Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2025 .
The annual awards were the result of more than 750,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers, who submitted their travel experiences from across the globe.
"We are deeply honored to have been selected as the number one hotel in Boston," General Manager Bradford Rice said in a press release.
"This award is a true testament to the dedication to hospitality that our team strives for every day, and we are immensely grateful to all of our guests, clients and supporters," Rice said. "We take great pride in cultivating exceptional, inspiring experiences for all that walk through our doors."
Originally opened in 2006, the InterContinental Boston is a 424-room hotel located along Boston's historic waterfront. The hotel was built on the site of the Boston Tea Party and designed to evoke the image of sails blowing in the wind.
The InterContinental underwent several renovations that included a redesigned lobby and new dining concept called Matria , which opened in summer 2024 . The hotel's other dining concepts are cocktail lounge Bar Fellini and speakeasy Loyall Counting Room .
"Newly renovated rooms and suites range from 420-square-foot rooms overlooking the verdant Rose Kennedy Greenway to a 2,100-square-foot corner Royal Ambassador suite — complete with two bedrooms, a service kitchen, plush living room, and a full office perched above the Fort Point Channel," Condé Nast Traveler wrote of the InterContinental.
"If it's a suite you're here for, the property has plenty with corner views of the water so you can feel like you live in one of Boston's most luxe real-estate corners," the outlet continued. "But rooms are well-appointed, too — there's barely a bad view from this property — with workspaces, velvet banquette chairs, plush linens, and roomy standalone tubs with handy sliding-door windows that open into the room so you can doubly enjoy that waterfront view."
Another notable accommodation is the Spa InterContinental that features a state-of-the-art fitness center, one of Boston's only indoor pools and revitalizing body and facial treatments.
