When it came to RI restaurant suggestions, readers delivered
OK, now I'm hungry, but I have no one to blame but myself.
A couple of weeks ago, I asked you to share your favorite restaurants and dishes in Rhode Island. This request came as we celebrated Nicks on Broadway's selection as one of America's best restaurants by USA TODAY.
I noted one of my favorites being Perro Salado in Newport, where I find myself highly anticipating the arrival of their sticky ribs and cilantro-jalapeño margarita as soon as I know I'm going.
And while Journal food and dining editor Gail Ciampa shared her review of Nicks and offered up 10 more great Rhode Island restaurants worthy of recognition , I was hungry for more, and you certainly delivered.
Thomas Gelfuso weighed in with an endorsement of Wright's Farm in Burrillville, with his favorite dish being clam cakes and chowder.
Another respondent said the corned beef sandwich at Maven's in Pawtucket is a must, while Ryan Moot pointed diners to Persimmon , his favorite restaurant, and the tuna crudo at Purslane . That South Kingstown restaurant got a second recommendation from Kimberly Winslow, who also suggested New Rivers , in Providence.
If you're looking for the "best eggplant around," Paula Maddalena suggests a trip to Wild Harvest Restaurant in East Greenwich, which also features a "homey atmosphere with friendly staff."
Jean C. Piquette said Gracie's in Providence is underappreciated. He said it's among the best restaurants he and his wife have dined at, including some high-profile spots in Boston and New York City.
And if you're headed to Cranston, Nancy Thomas offers up Avvio in Garden City Center, adding that the restaurant has a great waitstaff. And of course, there's always the classics, with Ann Henault saying that no question, Twin Oaks is among Rhode Island's best.
Thank you for these suggestions, now I've got some reservations to make.
