How Capital City Pedicabs became a Tallahassee staple at big events
If you've ever wandered down Gaines Street or through Railroad Square on a warm, busy evening, chances are that you may have spotted a colorful pedicab weaving safely through the foot traffic. I caught up with the pedicab to learn about their story.
The Backstory
Capital City Pedicabs was first dreamed up by Ron Goldstein back in 2012, just as Gaines Street and College Town were beginning to bloom. He saw an opportunity: Tallahassee was growing, and it needed a safe, fun, community-centered way to get around. Soon afterwards, the LLC was filed in September 2012, and by early 2013, the wheels were officially in motion.
Today, the company is owned by his son Mike Goldstein, who took over in December 2018 after working in retail at Target and becoming more involved in the family business.
A Tallahassee local, Mike saw what his dad's vision: the pedicabs are more than just a method of transportation, they are a unique and creative contribution to Tallahassee. Now, Mike runs day-to-day operations and serves as the main rider. While Kasey and Brian tag in when needed and help maintain the pedicabs.
When asked about the biggest lesson learned in nearly 14 years, Goldstein put it simply:
"Take it in strides and enjoy the ride. Find that work-life balance and don't stress — the money will come from the people who become friends and business colleagues along the way."
As Tallahassee continues to grow, Capital City Pedicabs is proud to grow right alongside it.

They're regulars at monthly events and deeply connected to the arts and cultural scene. Recently, they partnered with the Tallahassee Active Lifelong Learners (TALL) during a Business & Economic Development Day at Domi Station, giving participants a fun send-off ride to wrap up the day.
It's this blend of entrepreneurship and community presence that makes them such a staple.
How to support this local gem

Rates for rides range from $5 on FSU Campus to $10+ in College Town area.

These partnerships help sustain the business during slower weather seasons — a great way for local businesses to support local while getting visibility in some of Tallahassee's most vibrant areas.
