With the owner’s permission, the refurb was split into two parts: the first technical and the second aesthetic. The team first repaired the steel hull and updated the onboard equipment. The stabilizers were replaced with electrically operated alternatives designed to reduce rolling motion and enhance comfort and stability. The yacht was also given “an amazing new look,” according to Cantieri di Pisa. That classic 1980s silhouette remains, of course. Achieving class renewal, Gin & Tonic will return to cruising the Mediterranean more spirited than ever. It is also available for charter.

Gin & Tonic isn’t the only refit Cantieri di Pisa completed over the past few days. The yard also finished revamping a 141-foot Perini Navi sailing yacht. Given the size and design of the 141-footer, the yard had to dismast the yacht so that it could enter the Canale dei Navicelli (the channel connecting Pisa with the port of Livorno). After overcoming that logistical challenge, the refit team started “invasive work” on the sailer, including repainting the body and masts. It also achieved class renewal and is heading to the Med.

Cantieri di Pisa handed both the Feadship and Perini Navi back to their owners ahead of schedule, further highlighting the skill, speed, and efficiency of the refit division. Over the past season, the refit team has completed work on more than 30 yachts of all different sizes, styles, and origins. Another 10 vessels will soon be handed over to owners, bringing the total length of yachts delivered this year to one nautical mile.

Reviving cruisers is only a small part of what Cantieri di Pisa does, though. The historic, nearly century-old shipyard was acquired and relaunched by Enrico Gennasio in 2021. The yard, which occupies just shy of six acres and has almost 30 direct employees plus a supply chain workforce of about 300, has built and delivered well over 700 yachts in the past 80-odd years. Cantieri di Pisa became famous during the 1960s for a series of yachts named after the stars of the Eridanus constellation. The yard now has four different lines, including the constellation-inspired Polaris and the Akhir .

From stars to G&T , Cantieri di Pisa can do it all.
