This Copycat McDonald's Shamrock Shake Recipe Is the Ultimate St. Patrick's Day Treat
  • McDonald's Shamrock Shake is a seasonal treat available from the beginning of February until St. Patrick's Day, and a homemade version can be easily recreated at home with a few simple ingredients.

Every year, around the beginning of February, McDonald's brings back the delicious Shamrock Shake. It's only available until St. Patrick's Day , and then it's gone until the next year. My whole family loves this shake, and I have tried many copycat versions before, so I had enough information to come up with my own recipe.

After so many tests, I finally landed on the perfect at-home version of McDonald's iconic seasonal treat.

The color is just about the same as the original. What's more, the family thinks this one tastes just like the McDonald's Shamrock Shake! The best part is that we can enjoy this luscious, minty shake any time of year for a fraction of what we pay at the Golden Arches.

Get ready to don your best green and whip up this McDonald's copycat recipe !

  • 2½ cups vanilla ice cream

  • ¼ cup half-and-half or whole milk, add more if needed for pourable consistency (but it should still be thick)

  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ - ½ tsp peppermint extract (note: mint extract won't work for this recipe!)
