According to the FDA, dogs who have ingested metal may show symptoms such as choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort. Metal of any size, especially sharp pieces, can lead to serious health issues in dogs, including lacerations in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract. It can also lead to gastrointestinal upset, partial blockage, and a risk of intestinal obstruction. If your dog has consumed any of the affected products and is exhibiting these symptoms, contact your veterinarian.
So far, there have been no reports of illness or injury related to the recalled products. "We have identified the error, and in addition to our existing safety processes, we have put corrective actions in place to prevent this from happening again," Fromm Family Foods said in the recall notice.
