When it comes to weekly grocery hauls , you're really missing out if you're not taking advantage of your local Aldi . Stocked each week with a wide variety of grocery essentials, household goods and new or returning fan-favorites, there's always something to discover no matter which day you stop by.

That said, whenever I visit, I usually make a beeline straight to Aldi's frozen food department. As someone who generally tries to cook meals from scratch as much as possible, I'm still human—and I can't help but indulge in whatever new frozen creation has appeared for the week.

Bremer Blackened Chicken Alfredo, $7.49 at Aldi

Bremer's Blackened Chicken Alfredo

Bremer's Blackened Chicken Alfredo

This week's exciting frozen discovery? Bremer's Blackened Chicken Alfredo—a surprisingly delicious find that packs plenty of protein and undeniable flavor into one convenient four-serving tray. I recently picked up a 30-ounce box for $7.49 while scouring for new options to try, and I couldn't help but feel like I'd hit the jackpot before even leaving the store. From the weight of the box alone, I could tell it was going to be a hearty meal. Thankfully, the flavor didn't disappoint.

Packed with 16-grams of protein per serving (a full 64-grams total), this hearty meal features tender white meat chicken and penne pasta tossed in a creamy, flavorful Alfredo sauce. The blackened chicken adds a slight, satisfying heat to each bite, and there's no shortage of sauce. And speaking of the sauce—it's super creamy, tasty and the perfect pairing for such a filling meal.

In terms of the tender white meat chicken, there's a good mix of both smaller and larger chunks throughout, adding a satisfying texture to each bite. It might not look like much going into the oven, but once it's baked, this dish comes out looking—and smelling—every bit as tempting as a restaurant meal. And while the box claims it serves up to four people, I found myself polishing off half the tray before I even realized what was happening.

How to Make Bremer's Blackened Chicken Alfredo at Home

If you've secured a box of your own and you're ready to make a quick weeknight dinner (for yourself or the whole family), all you need to do is preheat your oven to 375°F. That's it. Don't remove the plastic film on the tray (I know, it feels wrong)—just take the tray out of the box and pop it straight into the oven. No poking holes in the film for ventilation; in the oven it goes.

Bake for 50-minutes, then remove the film, give the pasta a good stir, cover it again (I used foil at this point for a tighter seal), and place it back in the oven for an additional 15 minutes. Once it's ready, give it another stir and serve warm.

Alternatively, if you want your meal a little quicker, you can prepare it in the microwave. Follow the same rule—leave the film in place, no poking holes for ventilation. Cook on high for 10 minutes, then uncover, stir, recover, and cook for an additional 4 minutes or until heated thoroughly. Serve warm and pat yourself on the back for finding not only an easy weeknight dinner staple, but doing so for under $10. That's a major win in our book.
