Few dishes are as comforting as  mac and cheese . You really can't go wrong cozying up with a bowl of steaming macaroni covered in gooey cheese, especially in the colder months. That said, people certainly have preferences when it comes to cheese and add-ins. Some like a  breadcrumb topping . Some use a béchamel, while others don't. Some mix in meat, seafood, or flavorings.

If you're into flavored mac and cheese, plenty of  boxed mac and cheese brands  are pushing the limits of innovation. Kraft offers  ranch, jalapeño , and Chicken Ramen (and once had an  apple pie flavor , believe it or not), while  Goodles  offers pesto and truffle. Cheetos even has a line of mac and cheese, including a Flamin' Hot flavor.

Now, another beloved boxed mac and cheese brand,  Annie's , is entering the flavored mac and cheese competition with two very creative flavors.

Annie's Drops Grilled Cheese and Protein Dill Pickle Mac and Cheese Flavors

If you think boxed mac and cheese is boring, Annie's is about to change your mind. The company is releasing two brand-new flavors of its beloved boxed mac and cheese, and they couldn't be more different from each other.

First, Annie's is adding Macaroni & Grilled Cheese Mac & Cheese to its regular line. Then, it's introducing a new flavor to its protein line: Super! Mac Dill Pickle Mac & Cheese. Yes, that's right—pickle-flavored mac and cheese. And honestly? We're stoked.

The Grilled Cheese flavor combines two of the coziest meals into one delicious, easy-to-make dish. To make the mac and cheese taste like the buttery, pan-fried bread and melty cheese of a grilled cheese, Annie's uses real American cheese and brown-butter flavors. This new flavor is the ultimate warming dinner for fall. With some toasted bread on the side, there'll be no better place to be than enjoying this new flavor.

Then, there's the pickle flavor. Pickle has touched many,  many  foods, from  popcorn  to  beer  to even  Oreos , and now it's coming to our mac and cheese. The Super! Mac Dill Pickle flavor combines white cheddar with dill to capture the bright taste of a pickle. Plus, the pickle flavor is part of Annie's protein line, so it also includes 14 grams of protein and five grams of fiber—that's six more grams of protein and two more grams of fiber than in Annie's Classic Cheddar Mac & Cheese.

The Macaroni & Grilled Cheese flavor has already dropped at Target and will make its way to other stores across the country as the year continues. The Super! Mac Dill Pickle flavor, however, is an online-exclusive box available on  Amazon  (where it's priced at $3.69) as well as on Target and Walmart's websites.

While these flavors might make a mac and cheese traditionalist scoff, we think they're a fun twist on the boxed staple. We can't wait to cook up both flavors and cross another pickle product off our must-try list.
