Greenfield sub shop now selling award-winning sandwiches from trailer

It's been two years since Josh Bizub officially went from part-time employee to owner of Goldcoast Subs in Greenfield. In that time, he's heard many customers' pleas for a second location.

But that is too much of a financial burden for the 22-year-old entrepreneur right now.

"I see the rent prices," he said. "I don't know if that's the best thing to do."

So, as business owners do, the successful ones at least, Bizub came up with an alternative solution. If he couldn't bring customers to another location, what if he brought another location to them?

Josh Bizub, 22, created a trailer for Goldcoast Subs, the award-winning sandwich shop he owns.

Bizub bought a 20-foot car hauler for $6,000 last year, and spent months outfitting it to make and serve sandwiches. He redid the floor, put up walls and a ceiling, added a commercial pizza prep cooler and heat and air conditioning.

Another $10,000 later, the Goldcoast Subs food trailer was born.

Bizub unveiled the trailer on July 10 at Bark After Dark in Greenfield's Konkel Park. He has also hauled it to the Turf Skatepark and Waukesha County Courthouse, and its next public appearance will be at Greenfield's Maple Grove Elementary School Oct. 16.

Customers can buy almost everything that made Goldcoast the best lunch spot in Milwaukee's 2026 Top Choice Awards . The only thing not available are the 2-foot subs, Bizub said. He did add he is still deciding whether to serve chili out of the trailer.

"Depends on how well I can keep the pot stable while driving somewhere," he said, chuckling.

Even though the trailer became operational in July, for the first two months it was just plain white. Bizub finished adding menu signs and branding decals in September. On Oct. 7, he officially announced the trailer on Facebook, asking for recommendations of places to take it.

It's been less than two days since Bizub made the post, but Goldcoast Subs is already booked for events next summer, including New Berlin's 4th of July Festival and the Racine County Fair.

He's also getting higher profile invites.

Microsoft asked Bizub to drive the trailer to its data center in Mount Pleasant, and Vantage asked him to take it to the $15 billion hyperscale artificial intelligence data center in Port Washington.

While Goldcoast Subs has done pop-ups at events pre-trailer, it required Bizub to put up (and break down) a tent, and haul in a cooler and a sink. Now, all he has to do is put his car in park and lock the doors.

"It's way easier to pull up with a trailer and be able to serve," Bizub said.
