As a food writer, I (proudly) cook most of my meals at home . But if I’m being honest, even I have weeks when figuring out dinner feels like too much. On those nights, simplicity and convenience matter.

That’s where one grocery store’s viral deal comes in, offering a quick fix to take the hassle out of busy evenings, help simplify meal prep, or feed the whole family with ease.

The Family Meal Deal From Whole Foods

Whole Foods recently introduced a Family Meal deal that lets shoppers build a complete dinner by choosing one protein and two sides. The bundle feeds four people for $35, breaking down to less than $9 per person. With plenty of mix-and-match options, the customizable kit has quickly caught shoppers’ attention as a more affordable (and more nourishing) alternative to takeout . The deal is great for families who want dinner on the table fast, anyone looking for ready-to-heat meals for the week, or budget-conscious shoppers who appreciate knowing the total cost upfront .

Allrecipes Executive Culinary Producer Nicole McLaughlin tested the ready-made dinners for herself and noted there is enough food to feed her family of five, making this "delicious" offering even better, at just $7 a person.

To try the new Family Meal deal, head straight to the prepared foods counter at Whole Foods. Once there, you can build your own meal by choosing one protein and two sides, or if you're short on time, grab one of the store’s pre-packed Family Meals. Both options cost $35. For solo diners, Whole Foods also offers a smaller version that includes one protein and one side for $13. Menu options include:

  • Protein Choices:Coconut Macadamia Nut-Crusted Salmon, London Broil With Roasted Garlic, Marinara Beef Meatballs, Paleo-Friendly Grilled Chicken Breast, Paleo-Friendly Salmon, Chicken Scallopini, and more.

  • Side Choices:Creamy Russet Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Cauliflower, Green Beans, Roasted Potatoes With Garlic and Parsley, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, and more.

The deal has already earned glowing reviews from shoppers across social media. One shopper on Instagram called the Family Meal trays "a lifesaver," while TikTok's @madsofischl noted that although they’re marketed as family meals, they work perfectly for single-person meal prep . "This takes one thing off my plate that I don’t have to think about," the TikTok creator added, sharing that the meals help them avoid eating out and earn "five stars all around."

For now, the Family Meal deal is available only in stores, with no option to order through Whole Foods’ online grocery delivery . Still, given the buzz it’s generating, it may be worth making a trip to check it out.
