  • Cowboy, a foster puppy, cautiously approaches Cactus, a rescue dog, before finally mustering the courage to climb into his bed for a cuddle.

Cowboy, the little pup, really wants to snuggle with Cactus, but is a bit unsure about his reaction. So, he starts out a few careful steps away from the bed and pauses to think about it. Then the foster puppy checks back with Michael and finally works up the nerve to climb in beside the much bigger rescue dog.

In the video shared by @cactustherescue , Cowboy gives a tiny tail wag before settling next to Cactus, and for a moment it looks like he is still wondering whether he is really allowed to stay. He gets his answer when Cactus turns toward him and settles his head along the puppy's body.

Foster puppy climbs into adopted rescue dog's bed for a cuddle and gets snuggled back

Cactus is already stretched out comfortably on his bed when Michael places Cowboy on the floor a short distance away. The puppy takes a few uncertain steps toward him, stops, and sits. The text on screen calls this "second-guessing," which feels accurate. Cowboy looks back at Michael, almost waiting for further instructions. "Go ahead, Cactus will let you," Michael tells him. That seems to do the trick.

Cowboy walks the rest of the way to the bed, gives a small, tentative wag, and starts climbing in. First come the front paws, then the rest of his little body, until he is tucked right beside Cactus. For a second, Cowboy still seems unsure what to do. He turns his face away and tries to settle his head into the space near Cactus's neck. When Cactus stays put, the puppy rests his face right beside his.

The next shot shows both of their faces side by side, and it is ridiculously sweet. Then Cactus gets a little more comfortable himself. He turns his head and rests it along Cowboy's body while the puppy stays curled beside him.

That tiny cuddle has clearly won over the internet, garnering over 2.2 million likes. Viewers are saying that watching the two dogs has become a daily activity and insisting that they are already brothers.

Cowboy's family situation has been changing quickly. Michael has been fostering him and his mom, Honey, but Honey had to move to another foster home for heartworm treatment, while Cowboy's siblings have been adopted.

So having Cactus nearby seems pretty special. The rescue dog and foster puppy started with a little hesitation , but Cowboy made the first move. Cactus answered by making room, and that was all the puppy needed.
