The search for the Best Fish and Chips in Central Massachusetts has been turned over to the experts — our readers.

More than 50 local restaurants and markets were mentioned in the hundreds of nominations we received via email and social media over the past week.
Like our earlier polls, in which readers helped us find the best breakfast spot , pizza and date night spots , among other topics, we'll take a bracket approach, must like the March Madness college basketball format.
From the nominations submitted by readers, we have pulled out the 16 with the most nominations and formatted them into brackets. (Many worthy businesses did not receive enough nominations to make the top 16.)
We'll have four weeklong rounds, narrowing the field each week, from 16 to eight, then four, then two and, finally, the Best Fish and Chips in Central Mass.
Based on the nominations, we ranked the places from 1 to 16, with eight showdowns in the first round. Voting ends at 6 p.m. Fridays, with the next round to begin at 6 a.m. the following Monday.
It's an informal poll, unscientific, intended as fun, a departure from the sometimes edgy tone of the internet.
We'll keep you posted every step of the way until a winner is declared.
