Earlier this week, Merit released a new shade of its coveted  Day Glow highlighting balm  that, in my opinion, should be in everyone’s cosmetic bag this season. It’s called  Solstice  and it’s a beautiful neutral bronze hue that this writer can’t wait to get her hands on. This new one is a little deeper than the other three shades, giving your complexion more warmth and radiance. The brand describes the new shade as a “dewy highlighter” on medium to deep skin tones and a “sheer, glowy bronzer” for those with fair to light complexions, and I couldn’t agree more.

While all of  Merit’s products  work well for every skin tone, I’m very excited about this new  Day Glow  shade as a woman with melanated skin. Usually,  highlighters  and other shimmering complexion products can make darker skin tones look washed out, ashy, or just flat-out don’t match, making those products unusable for someone like me. The Solstice highlighter balm is the perfect shade for a natural summer glow for every skin tone, especially those of a darker complexion.
