Missourians love their beer. Which brand is their favorite?

Football season is nearly underway, and with it comes a lineup of game day favorites, including hot dogs, nachos and, of course, beer.

Beer remains big business in the United States, with the industry worth about $113 billion a year and more than 9,700 breweries operating nationwide, according to the Brewers Association .

To find out which brews Americans favor most, health and wellness website Innerbody analyzed a year's worth of search data for a recent study ranking the most popular beers nationwide and in every state.

Here's the beer brand Missourians reach for most and how the state's beer-drinking habits compare with those of the rest of the country.

What is the most popular beer in Missouri?

It should come as little surprise that Budweiser was crowned Missouri's most popular beer. The iconic beer was first introduced in St. Louis in 1876 and is still brewed there to this day.

Interestingly, Missouri was the only state where Budweiser claimed the top spot, with several other states preferring its lower-calorie counterpart, Bud Light.

How does Missouri rank for beer interest?

Missourians, like most other Midwesterners, love their beer.

The state ranked No. 10 overall among all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with a search-interest score of 67.79.

  2. Wyoming (86.54)
