Oxen pulling sleighs with weaponry, cannons firing and "patriots" sharing stories from serving in the Revolutionary War were all at the Old Sturbridge Village this weekend in celebration of the 250th anniversary of Henry Knox's artillery train expedition.

In the winter of 1775-1776, Knox, a colonel of the Continental Army, traversed through heavy snow and icy rivers to deliver 60 tons of artillery equipment from the captured Fort Ticonderoga in New York to General George Washington's army stationed outside of Boston.

In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Knox's feat, Old Sturbridge Village held special events celebrating Knox's artillery train, which passed through Central Massachusetts communities during its 300-mile-trip.

Visitors were witness to demonstrations of cannons being fired and got to operate an artillery engine, see oxen pull sleighs with weaponry on them, listen to stories from actors performing as men who traveled with Knox and see the artillery train in motion when it traveled through the countryside.
