New outdoor restaurant brings modern Asian creations, cocktails to Somerville
Dine on dumplings and sip spirits while soaking up the sun at a newly opened outdoor restaurant in the Boston area.
Assembly Row in Somerville welcomed Cocolee on Tuesday, May 27 — just in time for the start of outdoor dining season .
Taking over the former space of River Bar, Cocolee comprises a large outdoor patio and bar overlooking the Mystic River with a second bar and dining room inside.
The eatery specializes in modern Asian cocktails and bites that are intended to be shared among diners.
Guests can start their meal with a couple of appetizers such as the Green Papaya Salad, Wok Fried Green Beans or Miso Skirt Steak. Cocolee also offers several dumplings, including the must-try Blue Crab Rangoons and "Shark Fin" dumplings.
If those options aren't enough to satisfy one's appetite, then diners can split a bowl of Hot An Pork Noodles or Crab Basil Fried Rice.
Appetizers range between $6 and $12, dumplings from $12 to $14 and rice and noodles between $16 and $19. Cocolee's kitchen is also fully nut-free and has several Gluten-free options.
Standout cocktails include the sweet and minty "Sleeping with Sirens," tart and tangy "Da Nang" and the "Cocolee," which is a Vietnamese coffee drink with coconut rum, vanilla vodka and topped with toasted coconut.
Cocolee is open Monday through Saturday. The restaurant serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner from 5-10 p.m.
The address for Cocolee is 661 Assembly Row, Somerville.
