Change is a constant characteristic of the cruise industry, be it in the form of new ships arriving to a company's fleet or the periodic refurbishment of older, slightly outdated vessels within a company's lineup.

As a notable example of the latter point, Royal Caribbean has recently announced that three of its most popular ships will undergo some drastic changes in the very near future, as revealed by the independently-owned cruising website, Royal Caribbean Blog.

Beginning in 2026, Ovation of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas will experience some major transformations as part of the company's Royal Amplified program.

Initially launched in 2018, this program is geared towards refurbishing many of the cruise line's older vessels, allowing them to remain up-to-date with the company's latest, technologically-advanced vessels, such as Icon of the Seas or Utopia of the Seas.

Under the Royal Amplified program, each ship will be reequipped with new, more modern features and amenities, including new dining opportunities, sleek new pool decks and additional onboard activities like laser tag and escape rooms.

In particular, as part of the company's plans, the Ovation of the Seas will be outfitted with a refurbished pool area featuring private casitas and a neighboring whirlpool. In addition to new suites like the Ultimate Family Suite and a significant expansion of the casino, the Ovation will also bring in several new dining venues, including Giovanni's Italian Kitchen, Izumi Teppanyaki and the Pesky Parrot bar.

The Harmony of the Seas will experience several notable changes as well, including a Caribbean-influenced pool area, a refurbished and redesigned adults-only Solarium and a new onboard dining option with the Samba Grill Brazilian Steakhouse.

Likewise, Liberty of the Seas will feature similar new additions as the aforementioned ships, including a redesigned pool deck, a Royal Escape Room, and several new dining options, including El Loco Fresh and Izumi Teppanyaki.
