“In every great love story, there’s a spark that brings two people together — call it destiny, or call it the Force,” County Clerk Jordan Z. Marks said in a statement to Fox 5 KUSI News . “On May 4th, I become the ‘Yoda’ of love and invite couples to begin their own ‘happily ever after’ Jedi-style.”
The limited ceremonies, which will feature optional Star Wars -inspired vows and be available in both English and Spanish, will be offered only at the county's downtown waterfront location. Couples may wed outdoors at the Waterfront Park or inside ceremony rooms at the County Administration Center.
Although walk-ins will be accepted, appointments are recommended, per Fox 5 KUSI News. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the event. Fees include $129 for a nonconfidential marriage license and $107 for a civil ceremony performed by county staff. At the county garage downtown, free parking will be offered.
The San Diego County ARCC recently promoted the event on Instagram .

The post featured a promotional sign with "May the Fourth Be with you" in bold letters next to a wedding ring graphic. The phrase is a play on the famous Jedi phrase "May the Force be with you," which is why May 4 is informally celebrated as Star Wars Day.
