But for this taste test, I tried store-bought brands to find out which ones are worth stocking up on. I tested each cider chilled for consistency and I paid attention to flavor balance. This cider is a powdered drink mix, so I didn't have high hopes. Turns out, my instincts were correct. This reminded me more of an apple-flavored tea than a true cider. The flavor was very light and almost watery, lacking that deep apple essence you expect from a good cider. It's quick and convenient, but it just doesn't deliver that cozy fall flavor.

9. Weis Apple Cider

The Weis cider tasted like someone started with apple juice and then added a splash too much water. It's pleasant enough but doesn't have the richness or spice that makes cider feel special. Smooth and sweet with a familiar flavor that's easy to love, it just doesn't have that spiced depth that defines true cider. Think picnic apple juice, not fireside cider. One note: I did happily finish the whole bottle, so I wouldn't call it bad.

This is a brand I found at Aldi. It felt like an apple juice pretending to be a cider. It had the look, but not the flavor.
