Okay, let's start with the one I can't get over—the ice cream sandwich hack. This might sound a little wild at first, but trust me, it's simple, brilliant and an absolute game-changer!
Take Shake Shack's rich, creamy frozen custard and sandwich it between their perfectly grilled burger buns. Yes, burger buns—and no, I haven't lost my mind!
Shake Shack's buns are buttery, soft and just slightly sweet, making them the perfect match for the custard. When you get them grilled, they develop this slightly crispy, golden-brown edge that adds an extra layer of texture and flavor. The contrast of warm, toasted bread and cold, creamy custard is absolute perfection!
This balance of sweet and savory, soft and crunchy warm and cold is a mashup I can't pass up. It's also a classic Italian move. In Sicily, you can get gelato con brioche, which is gelato sandwiched in a brioche bun. It's often served for breakfast, which is an idea I can get behind.
To make a Shake Shack ice cream sandwich, order a frozen custard (vanilla and chocolate are classics, but seasonal flavors could be fun to experiment with) and ask for a side of grilled hamburger buns. Sandwich the frozen custard in the burger bun and thank me later.

The ice cream sandwich hack is great, but there are plenty of other great Shake Shack menu hacks out there. Here are a few more secret menu items that will help you level up your next order.
You can start with a beer float, which is basically a grown-up version of a root beer float, swapping soda for beer. Shake Shack's custard is already ridiculously creamy, and adding it to a cold beer creates a drink with a smooth, foamy texture. The sweetness of the ice cream also smooths out any bitterness in the beer.
To order a Shake Shake beer float, ask for a scoop of vanilla custard in your beer. If they don't mix it for you, just order the items separately and DIY it.
Sticking with the drinks, try a shandy. This is a classic British pub order that's usually an equal mix of beer and lemonade or lemon-lime soda. To make a Shake Shack shandy, ask if they can do a 50/50 mix of lemonade and beer. If not, just order them separately and mix your own.
Shake Shack serves up some of the best fast food out there, but these secret menu hacks take it to another level. The ice cream sandwich is hands-down my favorite mashup here—it's simple, unexpected and looks so good. But if you're in the mood for something extra, these other drink tricks are worth trying, too.
