It's official: the Kansas City Chiefs are the winners of 2024's Super Bowl LVIII!
In a competitive match-up, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, record-breaking tight end Travis Kelce, defensive lineman Chris Jones, and the rest of the Missouri-based team came out victorious over the San Francisco 49ers in the big game on Sunday, Feb. 11, held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The sporting event featured a tight game throughout, with both teams putting forth a high level of effort, ending with a 25-22 score after going into overtime. This marks the first time a team has achieved back-to-back championships in 20 years, when the New England Patriots won following the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
Naturally, the big game got the attention of many, with fans on social media going wild after the Chiefs' final winning touchdown.
"HOW ABOUT THOSE CHIEEEFFSSS #ChiefsKingdom ," one exclaimed via X (formerly Twitter), while another said, "When they bet against you, but you keep winning at life #mahomes ."
Someone else insisted the win was "INEVITABLE!!! #ChiefsKingdom ."
A host of A-list celebrities were in attendance for the face-off, including Taylor Swift , Blake Lively, Ice Spice, Leonardo DiCaprio, Gabrielle Union, Kelly Clarkson, Shaquille O'Neal, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and more.
The NFL even called it a "fairytale season," sharing footage of Kelce's girlfriend Swift and her crew celebrating in a suite.
Elsewhere during the high-spirited evening, musical headliner Usher put on a show-stopping Halftime Show performance, where he highlighted a slew of his chart-topping hits from over the past three decades.
It was first determined that Kelce and the Chiefs would be heading to this year's Super Bowl LVIII after they defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Jan. 28, in the AFC Championship game.
Along the course of the season, the Catching Kelce alum put on several NFL history-making displays, breaking the record for playoff receptions and most postseason touchdowns by a QB-receiver duo with Mahomes , as well as becoming the fastest tight end ever to 11,000 receiving yards, reaching the milestone in 154 games, per CBS Sports .
With this big win, he has earned his third Super Bowl ring—something he made sure to let reporters know earlier in the week was the only ring he was focused on at the moment —after earning his first two in 2020 and 2023.
