  • H. Moser & Cie, a luxury Swiss watchmaker known for producing only 4,000 timepieces a year, has opened its first U.S. flagship store in Silicon Valley at The Villa Menlo Park.

With a production of only 4,000 timepieces a year, luxury Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie has a name that carries a great deal of weight within collector circles. But now the nearly 200-year-old brand is peeling back the curtain on its rare, covetable watches with its first U.S. store: a flagship in Silicon Valley.

Located at The Villa Menlo Park, the boutique offers an immersive look at H. Moser & Cie 's high-end watches in a museum-like setting. Leaning into tech culture's embrace of minimalism, the flagship showcases timepieces like paintings behind glass amid a palette of gray and cobalt blue. The store also offers a private room where VIP shoppers can sit back and learn about the history of H. Moser & Cie, which was founded in 1828 by Heinrich Moser and relaunched in 2005.

"The boutique's design follows H. Moser & Cie's philosophy of minimalism, understated luxury and immersive experiences," Edouard Meylan, chief executive officer of H. Moser & Cie, told WWD of the flagship. "The use of elevated industrial materials, clean lines and an open layout encourages discovery and interaction, much like the philosophy behind our watches. We wanted to create a space that reflects our brand's DNA: elegant yet disruptive, contemporary yet timeless."

"One of the key design elements of the boutique is the careful balance between transparency and structure — much like our Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Boutique Edition timepiece, which we just launched as a boutique exclusive," Meylan added. The limited-edition watch, which consists of an 18-karat yellow gold case and bracelet, a skeleton dial and movement, and an HMC 814 automatic caliber, was produced in a batch of only 17 pieces.

Silicon Valley's history and culture of "innovation, craftsmanship and independence" is what inspired H. Moser & Cie to open its debut U.S. store in Menlo Park. Not to mention, the Bay area has become "a key market" for the brand. "The Villa Menlo Park was a natural choice for our boutique, as it represents a unique cultural hub that celebrates artistry, exclusivity and excellence," Meylan said.

The U.S. flagship marks the fourth global boutique for the watchmaker, which also has locations in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. This year H. Moser & Cie will expand its boutique presence to New Delhi and Seoul — as well as open a second Moserland concept store in Hong Kong, following the first in New York.

Since 2012, the company has been under the umbrella of independent family group MELB Holding, formed by industry veteran and former Audemars Piguet CEO Georges-Henri Meylan, and based in the Vallée de Joux.
