Library's Culture Pass program checks out as way to make arts accessible
Want to see a play or take a trip to the zoo, but you're a little low on funds? No problem! Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has a way you can enjoy local entertainment without a hefty price tag.
CML's Culture Pass program offers cardholders admission to select arts and cultural venues. The program works the same as borrowing books: Patrons use their library cards to check out passes (in-person only), which grant them free access to events that would otherwise come out of their wallets.
Designed to increase access to the arts, the program began in 2018 with Culture Passes to the Wexner Center for the Arts and Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens . The program has grown to more than a dozen participating organizations.
Chamber Music Columbus is the latest organization to join the program by offering two passes at each of CML's 23 locations. Each pass is good for admission for two at select events.
The lucky library patron who checks out a Culture Pass for the next Chamber Music Columbus concert will be amused and astonished by the antics and artistry of Mnozil Brass at 7 p.m. March 8, at the Southern Theatre.

In addition to their impeccable playing, the Austrian brass septet is known for over-the-top comedy routines that have earned them monikers such as "the Monty Python of the musical world."
The final offering of Chamber Music Columbus' 2024-25 season , a performance by the Ariel Quartet on May 3, also is free with a Culture Pass.
In addition to Chamber Music Columbus, organizations offering passes at all 23 CML locations are BalletMet, CAPA , Columbus Clippers, Columbus Guitar Society, Columbus Museum of Art , Columbus Symphony , Dawes Arboretum, Columbus Museum of Art at The Pizzuti and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra .
