Meet Dunna, a Luxury Development in Baja Mexico That Just Launched Sales
- Luxury residential developments have been introduced in Mexico over the past three years, including Four Seasons’ Los Cabos Residences at Costa Palmas and Cancun’s One Laguna Residences and Marina Club, with a new project in Baja California set to be completed in four years’ time.
From Nayarit to Tulum, Mexico is bubbling over with luxury residences introduced in the last three years. Those seeking year-round lodgings in paradise are already aware of Four Seasons' Los Cabos Residences at Costa Palmas , as well as Cancun's One Laguna Residences and Marina Club unveiled last December. Now, a new luxury development set along the sun-soaked shores of Baja California is slated to be completed in four years' time.
Phase one of the Cabo project called Dunna is expected to break ground in the next two weeks and will take roughly 18 months to complete. Its name has many meanings but most commonly refers to a dune, or low hill of sand. In this case, though, it "reflects the mountain in front of the ocean and the connection of the land with the sea to the development," a representative tells Robb Report .

Situated right off the Carretera Transpeninsular highway, Dunna is the vision of a development group behind branded residences for St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, and Waldorf Astoria. The architecture and design outfit Sordo Madaleno , whose notable projects include Spain's El Molinón stadium, is designing the residences, while the lush greenery cascading from Dunna's terraced gardens and green spaces, next to native cacti and yucca plants in renderings, is being taken care of by the landscape firm Maat Handasa .
Textured walls in a warm beige hue make for a soothing contrast with the kitchen's marble island and wood-paneled cabinetry. A casual lifestyle is enhanced with open-plan layouts and windows that frame dramatic ocean and landscape vistas. Private terraces with horizon views are cooled by sea breezes.
A partly shaded rooftop terrace has a built-in grill and a plunge pool.
When the time comes to mingle, Dunna provides access to a host of amenities that include private lounges, wellness spaces, and a series of swimming pools in the terraced gardens. The development's exclusive shopping district will also feature luxury boutiques, gourmet restaurants, and art galleries.

Pricing starts at around $700,000 for the two-bedroom condos and up to about $2.8 million for the five-bedroom duplex residences. Property values in Cabo have been appreciating between 30 and 80 percent in recent years, according to Corcoran. Its growth continues to aid in attracting buyers seeking properties with strong rental appeal. A short-term rental program at Dunna aims to align with that clientele, ensuring a favorable return on investment.
