You Can Rent This Rare Richard Neutra-Designed L.A. Home for $32,000 Per Month
- A Richard Neutra-designed residence in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, originally built in the early 1960s, is now being offered as a rental opportunity for $32,000 per month by The Beverly Hills Estates.
Almost six years after it sold for $3.75 million, for only the fourth time in its 64- year history, a striking Richard Neutra-designed residence in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles has just popped up on the market again. But this time the post-and-beam gem is being offered as a rental opportunity by Rayni Williams and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates, asking a pricey $32,000 per month.
Originally built in the early 1960s for Ray S. Linn, a professional jazz trumpeter who played with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the aptly named Linn House recently underwent a significant restoration at the hands of its current owner in collaboration with architectural preservationist Ryan Soniat . The boxcar-style home, which was proffered for status as an L.A. Historic-Cultural Monument in 2014, was also owned at one time by fashion mogul Serge Azria, who picked up the place in 2015 for nearly $3 million.

The boxcar-style home's main living spaces are within a long rectangular section atop the carport.
Posted high above Mulholland Drive, beyond a steep gated driveway that winds its way up to a two-vehicle carport, the wood, stucco, and metal structure has three (and potentially four) bedrooms and three baths in roughly 2,200 square feet of cantilevered living space boasting built-in cabinetry and furnishings throughout. Walls of glass also offer sweeping north-facing views of the San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Mountains in the distance.
A staircase concealed by a stucco wall leads up to a wood-railed deck sheltered by overhanging eaves, with a particularly eye-catching amber-hued front door opening into a small vestibule that flows to a combination living and dining area boasting an original wood-burning fireplace. There's also a large study, plus a kitchen outfitted with ceramic countertops and a vintage oven.
The glass-lined living room is spotlighted by a wood-burning fireplace that stretches to the ceiling.

Three bedrooms can be found upstairs, including a primary suite with access to a marble-clad bath spotlighted by a sunken tub and two-person shower. The other two bedrooms are divided by a collapsible wall, while a lower-level space with an outside entrance includes a bathroom, making it suitable as a guest bedroom. In addition to a "red room sauna" inside, the hillside grounds span almost half an acre and host an irregular-shaped pool and sundeck nestled alongside the carport.
