Star Wars: The Acolyte Release Date Reportedly Set for June 2024
A lot of mystery is surrounding the upcoming Disney Plus show Star Wars: The Acolyte, which is taking place around 100 years before The Phantom Menace . According to Collider , however, two of these have now been solved: One is the release date of The Acolyte on Disney Plus, which is apparently set for June 5, 2024, and the second is the show's composer, a role Michael Abels has been tapped for according to the same report.
Star Wars: The Acolyte has been described as a mystery-thriller with martial arts elements and since the very beginning its title has been interpreted as having some relation to the Sith – in the wider world of Star Wars media, aspiring students of the Dark Side are often called acolytes. It's set right at the tail end of what is known as the High Republic era in Star Wars, a time of peace and prosperity in the galaxy during which the Jedi Order was at its zenith. It's an era Disney has focused on with book and comic releases for the past few years, but this will be the first time we get to see it on screen.

However, darker times are nearing. In The Acolyte, a Jedi reunites with her former master to get behind the truth of a series of crimes only to find something more sinister than expected. A trailer for the series has been shown at the most recent Star Wars Celebration event, but did not get a wider release online so far.
The Acolyte has been created by Lesley Headland, while Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae have been cast as the Jedi duo investigating the crimes with the South Korean Squid Game star playing the mentor role. Joonas Suotamo, who portrayed Chewbacca in Solo and the sequels, has been tapped to play the role of a Wookiee Jedi. Season 1 will have eight episodes with the filming being officially wrapped on June 6, 2023.
Disney Plus is currently airing Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 and Star Wars Andor is slated to release either at the end of 2024 or early in 2025 , so a summer release date for The Acolyte seems to fit into the schedule neatly.
