1 hospitalized, several treated for smoke inhalation after fire at Euclid apartment complex

Euclid firefighters say one person was transported to a hospital and several others were treated at the scene after a fire broke out at an apartment complex Friday night.
In a social media post Saturday afternoon, the Euclid Fire Department said crews from multiple area departments responded to the fire at Indian Hills, an apartment building located at 1490 East 193rd St., around 9:30 p.m. Firefighters found active flames on the fourth floor of the six-story building, with several residents complaining of smoke inhalation.
During what the department described as an "aggressive" search and fire attack, firefighters found one person who was still inside the apartment where the fire began. That person was removed from the apartment and turned over to EMS, who transported them to a Cleveland hospital to be treated for burn injuries and smoke inhalation.
The victim's condition is unknown as of Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters say "several additional residents" were evaluated and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Three other local fire departments assisted the Euclid Fire Department with clearing smoke from the building.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
