Forbes' best college and university rankings are out — and Massachusetts took some of the top spots.

Eleven Massachusetts colleges placed in the top 100, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology taking first place.

This is in part because graduates of MIT earn a median salary of $110,200 three years after graduating and nearly all students return after their freshman year.

All of the colleges in the top 500 are those that offer "the best educational, financial and career outcomes for all students," according to Forbes.
