26-year-old woman killed by train in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) -A 26-year-old woman was struck and killed by a train in Abilene Thursday night.

The incident happened on the tracks on S 1st Street near Morris Street around 6:00 p.m.

Police say initial reports reveal the woman was on the tracks when she was struck and had been seen walking near the tracks with a male acquaintance.

The train conductor was the person who contacted authorities to report he had hit a pedestrian, according to police.

This victim's identity is being withheld until her next-of-kin can be notified.

An investigation is ongoing, an no further information is available at this time.
