Amazon just shut down this popular free service
Freevee, the free, ad-supported streaming service owned by parent company Amazon, has officially shut down.
Amazon shut down the service on Wednesday after initially announcing the end of the platform in July.
The Freevee app now directs users to Prime Video, Amazon's other streaming app, where users can access all of Freevee's content.
"Prime Video is the new exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, movies and Live TV," the Freevee App now reads.
Freevee was launched in 2019 as "IMDb TV" before being rebranded to Freevee in 2022. The service had a peak of around 65 million monthly users in 2022, according to the New York Times .
Some of Freevee's original content includes the "Judge Judy" spinoff "Judy Justice" and the Emmy-nominated reality TV show "Jury Duty."
