American Airlinesjust announced a new summer flight for 2026 that makes it significantly easier to pull off what can only be described as a Ralph Lauren summer : The major U.S. carrier is adding new service to Nantucket, Massachusetts, the quintessential coastal-cool island.

With its weathered docks, American flag sweaters and low-key luxury vibes, Nantucket has long been known for elevated, yet throwback summers and its something travelers seem to be craving right now—even if American isn't exactly calling it that.

The new flight to the coastal enclave is making headlines on its own, but American's also announced 14 other new routes for summer 2026 focused on popular U.S. destinations that have seen growing interest, but that haven't always been the easiest places to reach.

American is also adding more service to outdoorsy destinations like Bozemanand Kalispell, Montana, two gateway cities for Yellowstone and Glacier National Parkthat have surged in popularity in recent years.

The airline says summer travel continues to be a major focus, and these new routes are designed to cut down on connections and make high-demand destinations easier to reach nonstop.

The announcement also includes a big milestone: American will add Lincoln, Nebraska, becoming its 240th U.S. destination, and bringing the city more direct access to the airline's global network.

Meanwhile, Chicagoremains a major growth area as well. American plans to fly more than 30% more departures next spring compared with this spring, ramping up to over 500 daily departures next summer.

For travelers, the news is huge. Summer 2026 will bring more nonstop options to places that already sit high on many wish lists—whether that's a windswept island, a mountain town or a classic American summer escape that feels pulled straight from a Pinterest board.
