Americans feel less better off than four years ago, GOP-aligned poll says

A Republican-leaning poll found that the percentage of Americans who believe they are better off today than they were four years ago has decreased from the last time they were asked.

The poll , conducted by the Napolitan News Service , found 43% of respondents say they were better off than four years ago, compared to 52% who disagreed.

The number of respondents who say they are better off is down from 45% in Napolitan's May survey, according to the firm in its analysis. The firm notes, however, that when it asked the same question before President Donald Trump was elected, 37% of Americans said they were better off than they were four years ago.

The poll also found that 27% of respondents said their incomes have kept up with inflation over the past year, down from 32% in the firm's May poll.

Additionally, the poll found that 56% said inflation is primarily due to the policies and rhetoric of the president.

"That's the highest level we've seen since we first asked the question 15 months ago," the poll's analysis reads.

The Napolitan News Service is part of the Napolitan Institute , founded by veteran Republican pollster Scott Rasmussen . The organization bills itself as involved in "rigorous, unbiased polling," providing "deep insights into American sentiment."
