Apartment fire leaves one dead in Manchester NH
A fire at a Manchester, New Hampshire, apartment building left one person dead and another in critical condition on Thursday, according to WMUR .
The fire began on the third floor of the Executive Manors apartment building early Thursday morning, with fire crews responding to the scene just after 12:30 a.m., according to WHDH .
The fire was under control by 1:50 a.m., but one person was killed and eight more were taken to the hospital for treatment, according to WMUR.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal and the Manchester Fire Department did not immediately respond to requests for information.
New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey told WMUR that residents were trapped by the fire.
"They were jumping from the balconies," Toomey said, according to WMUR. "We just finished interviews with all the occupants. We believe the fire started on the third floor. And it prevented people from getting out into the hallways."
Ten families have been displaced by the fire, according to WHDH.
