Attleboro High grad remembers Kylee Monteiro as ‘one of the sweetest souls’

A close friend of Kylee Monteiro who graduated with her from Attleboro High School just two months ago is remembering her as being "one of the sweetest souls ever."

Alexandra Jorge, 18, said the whole situation regarding Monteiro "just doesn't feel real" as she is still trying to process the whole thing.

Monteiro's boyfriend, 22-year-old Gregory Groom , was charged Tuesday with her murder following a roughly two-week search for the pregnant 18-year-old reported missing on Aug. 6. He was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Wednesday.

Jorge said she has been friends with Monteiro all throughout high school and that they were with each other through thick and thin.

"She always brought a smile into every room she walked into and her laugh was contagious," Jorge said.

"I saw her every single day and sat with her at lunch, as well as had some classes with her," Jorge said. "Talking to her just felt so easy."

Another recent Attleboro High graduate, Sydney Cruckshank, said while she did not know Monteiro well, she remembers her as being a very happy, upbeat person.

As family members and friends continue to try and grapple with this situation, Jorge said, "she will never be forgotten."
