New Bedford woman suffers life-threatening injuries after I-95 crash in N.H.
A multi-vehicle crash that closed Interstate 95 in New Hampshire for several hours Sunday left one Massachusetts woman with life-threatening injuries and another with serious injuries.
Four people were injured in total, according to New Hampshire State Police, when the Labor Day Weekend collision involving three vehicles occurred just after 5 p.m. on I-95 southbound in North Hampton, New Hampshire.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2009 Toyota Avalon, driven by Jaceline Miranda Gomes, 29, of New Bedford, collided with a 2018 GMC Sierra, driven by Anthony Crudale, 33, of Plaistow, New Hampshire.
Police said the initial crash led Gomes' vehicle to cross the center median into the opposing southbound lanes of travel. The car then collided with a 2019 Toyota Tacoma driven by Sandy Herbert, 71, of Newburyport.
Gomes and an adult passenger suffered life threatening injuries, while Herbert and a juvenile passenger in Gomes' vehicle were seriously injured.
The crash caused a complete shutdown of I-95 southbound. The left lane reopened around 6 p.m., and all lanes were back open around 10 p.m.
The crash is under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.
