Beloved fast food chain closes dozens of locations after 60 years
The fast food chain known for its steak fries and catchy jingle — "we have the meats" — is quietly shrinking its portfolio.
Arby's, established over 60 years ago, closed dozens of its 3,600+ locations nationwide this year in a string of closures.
While the news may come as a surprise to many given their "quiet" nature, it also comes as a shock given the brand's popularity.
According to QSR Magazine , Arby's accounted for a third of the United States market share for sandwich sales in 2024 trailing only behind Subway and Panera.
Additionally, the company is supported by a larger parent company in good-standing.
According to Nations Restaurant News , Arby's parent company Inspire Brands is a privately-held "juggernaut," whose portfolio includes Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin's and SONIC Drive-In.
The outlet reports that based on Inspire Brand's 2024 financial performance, if all six brand's were wrapped into one chain, it would be the third largest in the country following behind Starbucks and McDonald's.
Nonetheless, it still saw closures in 2025.
