Boston’s first cereal bar known for nostalgic treats closing for good Sunday
A first-of-its-kind Boston shop specializing in customizable cereal bowls, shakes and desserts is shutting down for good this weekend after being open for a little over a year.
Sweet & Comfy, formerly Day & Night Cereal Bar, will close on Sunday, Jan. 18, the business said in an Instagram post on Monday.
"Shops close. Memories don't," the post read. "Thank you for every smile, visit, and core memory. Oak Square will always be home. No sadness…just love, gratitude, and momentum. This chapter ends, but the journey doesn't. Maybe we'll see you again, Boston."
Located at 6 Tremont St. in Brighton's Oak Square, the cereal bar first opened in May 2024 . Guests could create their own bowls, shakes and bars from a selection of classic cereals such as Froot Loops, Cocoa Puffs and Cap'n Crunch.
While speaking to Boston Magazine in 2024, owner Louis "Bizzy Genius" Elveus described the ice cream concoctions as "nostalgia in the form of a bowl or a shake."
"It reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons," Elveus told the outlet. "Like being a kid, when there's no real stressors and you're just in the moment."
He added that, "I just knew that it would hit home for many people as it did for me."
Sweet & Comfy went viral on social media and was well received when it opened. The shop holds a 5-star rating on Yelp , with reviewers calling it a "great spot for a sweet treat" and "a hidden gem with irresistible menu options."
Those who praised Sweet & Comfy are now devastated that the beloved cereal bar is closing up shop.
"Oh no!! My favorite dessert in Oak Square," one user commented on Sweet & Comfy's Instagram post. "We'll be visiting before y'all close!!"
"This makes me so sad! Good luck with everything Louis," another user commented.
