Winds will remain blustery overnight as temperatures drop quickly into the 40s by 8 p.m. and could hit the 30s, forecasters warn.
In Boston, it’s projected to be 39 degrees overnight on Wednesday. Worcester and Springfield will be chillier with highs of 36 and 37 degrees, respectively.
The cold conditions are expected to continue Thursday, with temperatures in the 50s statewide and particularly strong gusts of wind — up to 35 mph inland, and 40 mph along the coast.
Coastal areas, including Cape Cod and the Islands, can expect overcast skies and periods of ocean effect showers. There’s a small risk for coastal splash flooding during Thursday afternoon’s high tide, with waves reaching up to 10 feet.
