CPD: Crash injures bicyclist on S. Military Hwy.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A person on a bicycle was injured after he was struck by a car on South Military Highway Friday night, Chesapeake Police said.

The incident took place around 10:51 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Military Highway, as officers responded to a report of someone on a bicycle who had been struck by a car, according to police, who said both the person on the bicycle and the car were traveling westbound.

Chesapeake Police said the bicyclist was injured after being struck by the car and was taken to the hospital. There was no immediate word on the extent of the person's injuries, or whether anyone may be charged in connection to the incident.

Police are investigating the crash, and South Military Highway westbound is closed at Shell Road during the ongoing investigation.
