Dallas police released surveillance video of a suspect Wednesday as they asked for the public's help to identify a person of interest in connection with three shootings that left four people dead and at least 15 others injured in Deep Ellum over Halloween weekend.

The department is working to identify and locate suspects linked to three separate shootings, all of which occurred within roughly 75 minutes across the popular entertainment district early Sunday morning.

The video shows the suspect pulling a pistol out of his pocket around a large group of bystanders moments before the shooting. Police urged anyone who recognized the man to contact their investigators.

The release comes amid mounting questions about how the three separate shootings unfolded and how police responded, renewing a decades long debate over how to curb violence in the city's best-known entertainment district.

Authorities are already taking steps to try and secure the city.

Dallas law enforcement announced the launch of Operation Deep Cover, a joint effort by Dallas police and federal authorities, just after the Deep Ellum shootings. Officials said the operation would bring more uniformed and plainclothes officers to the district and a federal review of criminal cases for possible prosecution.

The four killed have been identified as Anthony Tyrone Martin, 25; Isaiah Boling, 20; Unique Elise Benjamin, 28; and Kaniesa Scott, 21. Those injured were shot in the hand, foot, hip and shoulder, among other wounds, according to police reports reviewed by The Dallas Morning News.

The video appears to be captured by a surveillance camera near the Main Street shooting, where a police report states six people were struck by gunfire.
