Del Rey Taqueria and Bar in Springfield closes

SPRINGFIELD — Del Rey Taqueria and Bar at 211 Worthington St. has closed permanently, according to a social media post from management.

No one answered the restaurant's phone Wednesday.

"Del Rey was created from a love of bringing people together, good food, familiar flavors, laughter, and moments that felt like home," the post read. "What began as a dream became a space full of memories, we'll always be grateful for."

Del Rey, next to Smith's Billiards and Theodores' Blues Booze and BBQ, opened in 2022 .

The building is owned by Edale Realty based in Florida, according to city records.

The announcement came as two other restaurants, Tlalli Tacos and Mexican Catering and Mykonos Greek Restaurant, also announced that they would not continue into 2026.
