Newsom’s savage mockery of Trump reaches new heights with this genius merchandise stunt
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has taken his trolling of President Donald Trump to a new level.
The Democratic governor launched on Sunday the "PATRIOT" merchandise store — a website that sells apparel mimicking Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) merch.
Items for sale include a red trucker hat reading "Newsom was right about everything," mocking a red hat that said "Trump was right about everything" that the president wore on Friday.
Another piece of merch is a mug reading "Newsom 2026″ implying support for Newsom to run for a third term, which is prohibited under California law. The mug appears to mock hats that read " Trump 2028 " that are sold on The Trump Store . Under the U.S. Constitution, Trump is not allowed to seek a third term as president.
One of the items listed as "sold out" on the website is a $100 Bible signed by Newsom. This appears to mock Trump, who last year sold "God Bless the USA" Bibles for $60.
In a post on X on Sunday night, Newsom revealed how much had been sold so far.
"WOW! WE HAVE NOW SOLD OVER $100K OF THE BEST PRODUCTS EVER MADE!! IF YOU HATE THE PATRIOT SHOP, YOU HATE AMERICA! THANK YOU!" Newsom wrote on X, mimicking Trump's Truth Social posts.
In a subsequent post, Newsom mocked Trump's MAGA slogan, hinting that his merch shop will have a flag reading "Make America Gavin Again."
"SOON 'MAGA' WILL HAVE A WHOLE NEW MEANING! COMING SOON FOR YOUR NEXT BOAT PARADE! YOU ARE VERY WELCOME, PATRIOTS!" Newsom wrote on X .
Throughout August, Newsom's press office has posted messages on X that mimic Trump's posts on Truth Social — writing in all capital letters and bestowing denigrating nicknames onto Republican and right-wing figures.
"DANA "DING DONG" PERINO (NEVER HEARD OF HER UNTIL TODAY!) IS MELTING DOWN BECAUSE OF ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM! FOX HATES THAT I AM AMERICA'S MOST FAVORITE GOVERNOR ("RATINGS KING") SAVING AMERICA — WHILE TRUMP CAN'T EVEN CONQUER THE "BIG" STAIRS ON AIR FORCE ONE ANYMORE!!! TRUMP HAS "LOST HIS STEP" AND FOX IS LOSING IT BECAUSE WHEN I TYPE, AMERICA NOW WINS!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. — GCN," one post reads.
A recent poll released by Echelon Insights this month shows Newsom as the second-most popular choice for the 2028 presidential nominee among Democratic voters, only behind Kamala Harris.
