Former ‘Superman’ star to join ICE ‘ASAP’
Dean Cain, the actor who portrayed Superman in the 1990s TV program "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," has announced that he is joining United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Cain commented on his decision during an interview on Fox News , where he stated that he felt he was doing the "right thing" for the country. In the same segment, Fox reported that ICE has received over 80,000 new applications from citizens seeking to join the organization.
Prior to the conversation, the actor had posted to his Instagram account encouraging viewers to "defend your homeland" via ICE. The post received over 4,000 likes and 12,000 comments.
"I'm actually a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer," Cain said during the interview. "I wasn't part of ICE, but once I put that [video] out there . . . it went crazy. So, now I've spoken with some of the officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent ASAP."
Cain's conversation with Fox News host Jesse Watters touched on the country's "broken immigration system," which the actor noted that Congress "needs to fix." He also expressed hope that other former officers and former ICE agents would "step up" as he has.
"This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing," Cain said. "I truly believe this is the right thing."
"This is what people voted for," he added. "It's what I voted for."
