Historic home in Prescott Valley burns down

A historic house in Prescott Valley burned down on Saturday, according to officials with Prescott Valley.
The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority responded to a fire on 4th Street in Prescott Valley and found the two-story home engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly brought under control, officials said, but suppression efforts are ongoing into Saturday evening.
Prescott Valley Mayor Kell Palguta said the house, known as the Barlow Massicks House, was destroyed.
The house was a "local treasure dating back to the late 1800s," town officials said.
One person was in the home when the fire began but was able to evacuate, officials said. One person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
