When will Hobby Lobby open at the former Eastfield Mall site?
SPRINGFIELD — Hobby Lobby plans to open its store in the newly built $77 million Springfield Crossing plaza — once the site of the Eastfield Mall — in mid-February.
The arts-and-crafts store operates more than 1,000 stores nationwide, the chain's media office said this week in response to questions from The Republican.
The location will be Hobby Lobby's ninth Massachusetts store. Its Holyoke Mall store opened in 2012 and was the first Hobby Lobby in Massachusetts.

Springfield Crossing also will be home to a new BJ's Wholesale Club, Target, Petsmart, La-Z-Boy, Chase Bank, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Skechers shoes and Carter's clothing for children.
The BJ's Wholesale Club has said it plans to open by the end of this year .
The old Eastfield Mall — the first enclosed mall built in the region in 1967 — was demolished in 2023 and 2024.
In June, the City Council approved an $8 million financing agreement that provided upfront money to the developers. The bonds will be paid back with taxes generated from Springfield Crossing over the next seven to eight years.

Hobby Lobby bills itself as the largest privately owned arts-and-crafts retailer in the world, with over 46,000 employees operating in 48 states.
It offers gear for hobbies, picture framing, jewelry making, fabrics, floral and wedding supplies, cards and party ware, baskets, wearable art and home decor.
