King Charles’ visit security beefed up days after Trump assassination attempt
( NewsNation ) — How safe will King Charles be while in the U.S. during his official visit as king?
That’s the question many royal watchers are asking, as his trip comes days after a man allegedly opened fire at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

The incident caused guests to scramble, including President Donald Trump, who was the reported target of an alleged assassination attempt .
Sources told me that security has been beefed up during Charles and Queen Camilla’s stateside visit, as well as the installation of extra perimeters.

They were greeted at the White House Tuesday morning by the president and the first lady.
Despite the frosty situation between Trump and the U.K. (the president wants the U.K. to help with war efforts in Iran, and British Prime Minister Keir Starme has basically said the U.K. is not getting involved in wider war efforts), the president and Charles’ relationship has been more cordial.
King Charles will address Congress
The king is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, becoming the first British monarch to do so since his mother, Queen Elizabeth, did it 35 years ago.
Charles’ jam-packed, four-day trip also includes a visit to New York to see the 9/11 memorial on Wednesday and travel to Virginia on Thursday to attend conservation-related events.

While Trump has made assurances that Charles and Camilla will be safe, a British government source told The Hill that security services were given a last-minute review before the trip, but the royals’ itinerary would not change.
