Legendary Boston restaurant wins global award ahead of 200th anniversary
A Boston seafood restaurant nearing its 200th anniversary has received a high international honor.
Union Oyster House was dubbed as North America's Best Landmark Restaurant for 2025 by the World Culinary Awards .
Alongside the World Travel Awards , the World Culinary Awards celebrates elite dining destinations worldwide.
"I am deeply honored to receive this award on behalf of the Union Oyster House staff and our faithful patrons," owner Joe Milano said in a statement. "We are pleased to have received this award in 2020, 2024 and now in 2025 and are grateful to be considered a legend."
Union Oyster House is considered one of the oldest restaurants in Massachusetts and the United States. The establishment's building dates back to before the American Revolution and started serving food in 1826, according to Union Oyster House's website.
Today, the restaurant continues to function as a highly sought-after oyster bar that is also known for its lobster rolls, clam chowder, fried clams and Indian pudding.
Union Oyster House is located at 41 Union St., Boston. The eatery is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
