Major change made for New England’s largest Renaissance faire

New England's largest and longest-running Renaissance festival will be held in a new location this year.

The 44th annual King Richard's Faire will open at an all-new site in Carver on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Formerly held at 235 Main St., this year's faire will be held at 5 Pine St. on the grounds of Edaville Family Theme Park, which has been reimagined as Edaville Entertainment Venue.

The faire's new home is said to have enhanced accessibility, scenic cranberry bogs and a mirrored pond. While King Richard's Faire is switching locations, visitors can still expect the same lineup of immersive and magical celebrations.

King Richard's Faire will feature live entertainment from social media stars to comedic sketches. A selection of Renaissance-inspired bites — including the faire's signature two-pound turkey legs — will also be available.

Meanwhile, visitors can shop for hand-crafted trinkets from local and international vendors at the artisan marketplace. Visitors can also mingle with knights and fairies, laugh with jesters and cheer on their favorite champions in the tournament field.

Here's a list of featured performers:

  • New:Grievance by Proxy — Swordplay so you don't have to.

  • New:Royal Musical — A Broadway-style comedic spoof starring the King and his Court.

  • New:Circa Brava — Daring acrobatics and aerial artistry to dazzle the crowd.

  • New:The Coreys — A musical duo serving amped up traditional tunes.
