Man stabbed to death in Central Mass. city identified
A 40-year-old man who was stabbed to death during a disturbance in Fitchburg Tuesday morning has been identified as Fitchburg resident Ronald Perceval, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.
Brockton resident Charles Ednerson was arrested in Brockton later on Tuesday in connection with Perceval's death, the district attorney's office said previously. He pleaded not guilty to charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon during his arraignment in Fitchburg District Court on Wednesday, according to court records.
Fitchburg police responded to Chester Street for a report of a disturbance involving a knife shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 16, police said previously. At the scene, officers found Perceval with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was later declared dead.
"The preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random act, as the individuals involved were known to each other," the police department wrote.
Ednerson was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Sept. 24 during his arraignment on Wednesday, court records show.
No further information about the stabbing has been released.
